A man was praying to God. “God, I do not understand, for I am seeking your will with all my heart and mind, but I cannot discern what you want me to do.” God replied, “If you would stop seeking and start listening, you would hear.”
Trying to hear the Voice of God can drown out the Voice of God.
A Love Letter From God
I am always ready to speak to you. But, you must remember that silence is my voice, also. In not hearing me, I may be saying, “Relax, be patient.” Sometimes my silence is saying, “What I want will be clear when you are ready to hear it.” At other times my silence says, “I have already told you what my will is, so take action.” Sometimes, however, I am shouting my will, but you do not hear it, for you are trying to hear it. I can only be heard when you are receptive. My Word flows into the openness of your surrender and relaxation, even as water flows into a valley. If you relax and remain open, you will hear and feel my Word coming to you through many avenues. I speak through your imagination, through inspired writers, through dreams, through the insights of your friends, through intuitions, through the coming together of circumstances that indicate my work in your life, and through the silent voice that whispers guidance and can only be heard in deep quiet. Sometimes, you can discern my Word by what you resists, for often I am leading you where you long to go but resists going. So, today, relax and be open, and my Word will come to you. I love you, and because I love you I want to speak clearly to you, and I will when you let me.
