Even a Jack Ass Can Take You There

Communion of the Heart

Saying For Today: Some people break their teeth on stone/ while others relish the taste of fresh bread.

Wisdom Story

As you read the following humorous, wise tale, recall the turban signifies Mulla Nasruddin was an educated man and, thus, literate.

One day an illiterate man came to the sage Mullah Nasruddin with a letter. He spoke, "Mullah Nasruddin, please read this to me. Mullah Nasruddin looked at the letter. He could not make out even one word. He said, "Sorry, but I cannot read a word of this." The man spoke harshly, "Shame on you, Mullah Nasruddin! You must be ashamed before the turban you wear!" Mullah Nasruddin took the turban from his head. He placed it on the head of the illiterate man. He spoke, "There, you wear it. If it gives some knowledge, then, you yourself read the letter."

Comments

Outer attainments fail to approach what one only enjoys through Communion of the Heart. Outer affiliations, memberships, applause, esteem, compliment, ... based on the most apparently virtuous and religious of reputation, but without the Knowledge of the Inner Person, is nothing more than the wearing of a graduation gown and hood by one who never attended a school. True virtue and intimate, divine knowledge arises from the Heart, where spirit mingles with Spirit, and your will is wed to the Divine Will, and all your purposes bow in servile subjection to the Providence of God.

Quit flirting with the surf;
make love to the depths.

Pour out the water!
Look! There's the dark red wine sitting right beside you.

Some people break their teeth on stone,
while others relish the taste of fresh bread.

A dying man kept looking in a well.
He decided to jump in~
He will never die again!

You cling to a quarter, like your life depends on it.
Christ offers you a blank check, and your life does depend on it.

A red eye fell into my glass~sounds crazy doesn't it?
Now, I have a chalice with a fountain of God's blood.

Disown the comforts of the outer court;
dare to walk into the Holiest Place.

Abandon your gazing into the candlelight,
place your mouth over the flame and swallow it whole.

Leave the four directions;
kneel on the still point.

Do you want to go to Jerusalem?
Then, quit looking toward the Middle East.

Why are so many dissatisfied with their lives?
Because they refuse to give them up.

So what, if you don't have a Rolls Royce!
Even a jack ass will take you there,
if you only have faith.

Now, does a bull give milk?
Then, be careful where you seek love.
