A Prescription in Times of Worry

On Receiving Peace

Page 3

When we are worried, we may find it difficult to apply the very spiritual principles and prescriptions that we find easy to talk about when things seem to go well. I find this true in my experience. Yet, regardless of how you or I feel, we can apply a spiritual process and know that God honors our willingness to do so. Doing that even once leads a step closer to peace that passes all understanding.

1) Choose a matter of anxiety for you ~ be specific. Apply the above prescription. This can include affirming in advance that God will both provide a resolution to your anxiety and give you peace.

2) Do you know someone who is going through an anxious time? Speak with the person. Recommend that he or she try the above prescription. Offer to pray through the process with him or her. I recommend you both voice and affirm the Philippians passage.

3) Memorize the Philippians passage in your favorite Bible translation? Set one or more times a day, for a week, that you will meditate briefly on the passage.
