The Self-Existing One [YHWH], Abraham's god, told him: Leave your homeland, kin, and family. Travel to the land I am going to show you. I will make you a mighty nation. I will enrich you. You will be an enrichment. I will enrich all enriching you. I will surely bring harm on all who bring harm on you. Indeed, by you all peoples over the earth will receive enrichment.

A parishioner of one of my churches sent me a reading today~January 1, 2007~on blessing. It concluded with this spiritual Truth:
A blessing cannot be kept. If it stops with you, then the blessing will disappear. The blessing will only keep working if it is continuously passed around. If you are a recipient of a blessing, keep the blessing working by being the source of blessing to other people.
As we anticipate the coming year, let us reflect together on an important question: "What is the purpose of my life?" Generally, the purpose of each of our lives is to be a means of blessing. Specifically, we each are to be a means of enrichment in a singular way.
We are a choir of many and varied voices. This makes possible the opus of bountiful beatitude~which is God giving God's Self in grace to us.
Being an enrichment together is possible when each of us devotes his or her life to being a channel of blessing. The Spirit of Life moves through us, keeping the current of beatitude moving to others. In turn, we receive blessing by being one with those we enrich in the Flow of Grace.

Suggested Exercise
1) Spend some quiet time prayerfully singing, chanting, or saying the refrain from the hymn "Make Me a Channel of Blessing":
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.
2) Talk to a close friend or family member. Ask him or her to share with you how you have been a blessing to him or her. Ask to share how that person has been a blessing to you.

1) What are ways you were an enrichment to others the past year?
2) Who was a special blessing to you in 2006?
3) What gifts do you have by which you can be a blessing to others in 2007?
4) Are their changes in attitude, behavior, or life that you need to make to use your gifts well to enrich others?
