The tension often arises due to the difference in how spiritually insightful persons, with a devoted maturing in the inner life, feel and see everything differently from the mass of the religious citizenship. While the spiritual know how the nonspiritual see and feel, the visa versa is not true, for the spiritual is a higher order within Spirit in affection and knowledge. The two see the world through different eyes and feel the world through different affections.
Suggestion for Reflection
1) Seeking to grow in fullness of spiritual Life and explore the workings of the inner person, what challenges does this present for you within the church or other religious group to which you belong? Explain.
2) What do you see as the essential lesson of the opening Sufi story?
3) What does it mean daily to be beginning again~thus, never an expert~in the spiritual Life?
4) How do you experience the inner workings of the Holy Spirit in your growth in Christ Jesus and service to other persons?
