The plot is to share the “secret” we come to, when all else has failed to gain us access to Love. Scripture, then, is the process between history and the present realization of the Christ Event. Realizing how ancients, and we today, tend to project onto God the determination of situations our own choices created, we find that God has always offered and does always offer the “secret” of access. We can enter into the Story as reflecting our individual journey and how we arrive at the “secret.”
The “secret” comes as a big surprise, a marvelous dramatic irony. If we do not read it as a big surprise, a marvelous dramatic irony, it might be that we have heard the story so many times we no longer are open to the radical nature of the surprise to the first hearers of the Gospel, or before to those who heard Jesus teach and saw him doing marvels.

The “secret” is surprising, partly because it so counters general human expectation. Likewise, it contradicts the conditions of acceptability, community, and love that often are priorities among humans.
7Now Our Common Creator has us where the Spirit wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. 8Saving is all our Creator’s idea … and work. All we do is trust the Source enough to let the Source do it. It's the Creator’s gift from start to finish! 9We don't play the major role.
