Scripture~Psalm 31.5a (NLT)
I entrust my spirit into your hand.
Comments
We are more than only receivers of Grace. The Spirit of Christ offers us personal and conscious involvement with God. Invitation and acceptance become a mysterious, awe evoking, earthy daily dance between God and you.
We are agents with God through participation. We are not just acted upon. Grace does not make us passively weak. Grace makes us actively strong.
Saying "Yes" is responding to Grace. Then, this opens us into intimacy with all life, to being a means of Grace touching all the world.
Are you ready for the dance? Does anyone ever get ready? Or is the word "Yes" and meaning it a first step of ample availability? Is that small step of willingness speaking through a burly barrier of fear and pride the start of the Spirit of Christ using you as you never dreamed possible?
The Holy Spirit has said “Yes” to us becoming all we can as co-agents in God blessing the world. For God loves all peoples and nature ardently, eternally. The purpose of our lives is the consent that opens us to sharing the blessing.
This way of blessing is much different from the demands and priorities about us: "I entrust my spirit into your hand." Is that not the last thing many of us are taught to do? Is that not even something many of our churches resist with all their might? And, how about us among the clergy?
Do you truly believe simple surrender to God will keep you open to a most amazingly sacred unfolding of your life in blessing others with love, joy, and peace? Are you willing to become such a channel of blessing, today?
Do not wait. Entrust your spirit into the Divine hands, now. The world needs everything God can do through you, today? The world does not need everything we can do in the name of God but apart from God. If we try to bless the world in the name of Christ while we live outside intimacy with God, we are likely to simply make more a mess.
Entrust your whole being to Grace, then Grace will use you as Grace knows best. And your best and the world's need will meet. That is what the world needs. That is the way of being blessing a means of God sharing blessing.
Suggested Reflection
How are you personally and consciously involved with God in your daily life?
What does it mean for you to entrust your spirit into the hands of God?
What role does Grace and human response play in the daily dance of overflowing Life?
What are the graces and gifts you sense God giving through your life to others in times when you are open to Amazing Grace?
Do you have times when you close yourself to Grace? How do you recognize when you have shut off that Grace~Flowing?
Would you consider writing a daily prayer, to pray each morning, one of entrusting your self that day to God? Or possibly you would commit to pray each morning and throughout the day and night: "My God, I entrust my spirit into your hand, use me as you will."
