Wisdom Story
"Why is everyone so happy except for me?" asked the student.
"Because they have learned to see goodness and beauty everywhere," said the master.
"Why don't I see goodness and beauty everywhere?"
"Because you cannot see outside of you what you fail to see inside."
*Anthony De Mellow
Wisdom Scripture
Spiritual friends, keep your minds thinking about whatever is true, whatever is respected, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever can be loved, and whatever is well thought of. If there is anything good and worth giving thanks for, think about these things.
*Philippians 4.8, NLV, Italics Adapted
Comments
Thought gives direction of energy to the forming of internal and, then, external formations. You are the agency of what you see in the world. Do not blame someone else for what you see; do not abdicate responsibility for what you see to anyone else.
Spirit is the ultimate Source of everything you see in world. You are the proximate source of everything you see in the world.
Change yourself, then you change everything. Or you can blame and complain, and carry around resentment inside you. You decide, only you.
Suggested Spiritual Exercise
Memorize the Scripture above. Each morning in meditation commit yourself to such thoughts, and only such thoughts.
