Therefore, the progress, or emergence, of sacred realities is not wrong or evil, for the Source is the Sacred One: Source of all sacrednesses. However, these sacred realities are sacred only in that they are derived from the Sacred, from God, and are reflections of the One To Whom Absolute Loyalty is due. Idolatry, whether of nature (i.e., pantheism), a religion (i.e., dogmatism), a sacred book (i.e., bibliolatry), science (i.e., scientism), or technology (i.e., technological progress/a part of scientism) is our allowance of such to have a self-momentum and assignment of personal and societal devotion that is due only the Sacred Itself. This devotion to other-than-the-Absolute will lead to unceasing futilization of tyrannies following tyrannies, for the human community seeks That to serve--not this-and-that, and That One from Whom all derives is the only One to satisfy the human longing to return from the many of creatures to the One of Love.
Therefore, Advent calls us to prepare for a fresh, new coming of the Word. We need this Word, who mediates created realities, to free us from serving the creature, that we might know and adore the Creator.
Oh! how our heart longs for the Source, even when our false loyalties have so mislead us to false loves that we no longer discern the very Love that is calling us to love. Christ comes, this Advent, and always, to show us the Face we have forgotten, the Face of the Father, who loves us through the Immediacy of the Holy Spirit, the Love of that Fathering One.
