Bliss... from Proto-Germanic, "gentle, kind." This origin gives insight into the quality of bliss as being more than merely an emotional state of happiness; bliss is a subtle Quality. Bliss does not call attention to itself, is calm, gentle, kindly in being and expression. Bliss is a selfless quietude. Bliss is not a state of the body at all, such as pleasure. Bliss arises from deep reservoirs; one discerns bliss through the body, when sensitized to Qualities not located in the body. By being drawn near to the Fount of bliss, of all the Qualities, one is drawn near to bliss, and knows this bliss as the essential nature of Life. Prior, one is surprised by visits of this bliss; in time, the Contemplative learns to live in bliss, bliss being his or her natural atmosphere of closeness to Grace, even in Grace.

bliss arises in direct contact with reality
"arises" means to you yet, bliss only seems to appear
bliss cannot appear from nowhere bliss appears to appear when what blocks bliss is removed
in openness, receptivity, bliss appears to appear for the spaciousness allows bliss to be known in the body
recently, I was looking over the marsh at a tree in the distance realizing, just this is it
seeing the tree as tree as this particular tree
~many persons have looked at many trees while never seeing a tree~
bliss arises in the absence of trying to make life into something special
wakeful to life the tree in the marsh
relaxing into nothing special this marsh, this tree, here
contentment arises quiet joy is present in seeing, finally, this is it
as it is
then, no longer merely looking at the tree one sees the tree
the distance between tree, once object, dissolves in subject-with-subject Communion, reverence, gratitude, rest ~ Bliss!
Hindu sages, for ages, have spoken of 'God' as Sat-Chit-Ananda, Being-Consciousness-Bliss or, as movement, we can read it, Being Conscious of Bliss
how does one know this Bliss? one knows it, when one makes space for it to be known
then, in seeing the tree there is one knowing
this knowing, non-intellectual, non-emotive, immediate and timeless is blissful ~ bliss only known by bliss
we could substitute other Qualities here ~for all the Qualities are of One~ such as, Love; when I see the tree I love the tree, I cannot not love the tree; then, in this Love, I reverence the tree as myself
